Was born into a rich musical environment. He inherited his Indigenous talents from his father Sri. KM. Vaidyanathan, a stalwart both in mridangam & ghatam, who also decided Rajhesh’s career in music. Another beacon in Rajhesh Vaidhya’s life was the Carnatic veena maestro Shri. Chitti Babu under tutelage Rajhesh learned the finest nuances of veena. Apart from his blistering speed, performance is distinguished by his use of electric and amplified strings. Besides his stage instrumental performances he is also deeply involved with recording for leading music directors.
He is a part of multi starred phenomental international album “Playing for change”.
In 2001 he was honoured with divine title “Shri. Kanchi kamakoti peeta Aasthana vidwan” and in 2011, he was honoured with the prestigious title “Kalaimamani”. Within the Veena & south Indian music tradition, he is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing and technically beguiling artist.
Smt.Girija Chandran’s abiding interest in the classical dance forms inspired her to found the REGATTA NATYA SANGEETHA KENDRA as early as year 1972. Registered under the Charitable Societies Act then, the aim, of course, was to promote the classical dances and other performing arts in Kerala and to uphold all aspects of the rich INDIAN tradition of GURUKULA SAMPRADAYAM -be it in the teaching methodology in the classroom or in the performances on stage.
Her focus and dedication to this purpose transformed her into a full-fledged Guru, composer and choreographer, to provide authentic training and sincere guidance to budding talents in various disciplines of dance such as Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi and Kathakali.
The methods of teaching and performances at REGATTA have been honed under the dedicated guidance of the renowned National Awardees PADMABHUSHAN Sri.V.P. Dhananjayan and Smt. Shanta Dhananjayan, with whom Smt. Girija Chandran has had a long and meaningful association. Students are also encouraged to participate in workshops conducted by the Government and other reputed organizations.
In keeping with its unwavering social commitment, REGATTA also gives free training to financially challenged, but talented deserving students.
